Ok here we go again I’m hoping this time around the SPS will last longer then a month. I’m trying out Green Slimer and pocillopora. I just shot a video of the Green Slimer with its I assume feeding tentacles. I just feed the fish. I’m hoping this is a sign that it’s happy?

Those are mesenterial filaments. Most of the time they are a stress reaction.

I would check your basic parameters and all of your measuring devices - make sure that your temp readers, refractometers and everything are calibrated and that all of your test kits are accurate.

Do you have other corals as well? I don't know a ton about sps but most of mine have small worm like tentacles at night that when feeding but not like that. Did you acclimate it right into your tank?

Everything is in check and stable. This happened when I was feeding the fish. A minute after the food hit the water the filaments came out. That’s why I thought the coral was feeding. Maybe a hour later or sooner the filaments were retracted.

Acros do not have to eat. They can get all that they need from the zoox through the light. Extending polyps, other than for gas exchange, is a risk and releasing filaments is expensive too. I have only ever seen the released in stress situations. Some people see it more frequently, but I have never heard of them extending with every feeding.

My Strawberry Shortcake does this at every feeding of frozen mysis. When I feed Reef Roids it sends out even more.
I always assumed it was feeding.

It could be, but it is not normal. Some people indicate that a few of their corals did this for years while growing and being happy. Most indicate that they went on to die. The vast majority do not deploy mes filaments at all. We just have no definite answers, just anecdotes to try and figure stuff out.

I know it's late and pics are crap but I told ya I'd grab some pics of my acros with the tentacles out at night time sorry for bad pics

I tried lol those are the only ones I get out of sps outside of the normal polyps during daytime

Well it has almost been 4 weeks since I’ve added the green slimmer and it’s doing greet. There is growth, not a lot but still it’s growth.
