This a hitchhiker xenia or something elss

I got some red zoanthids the other day and as i was dipping them.. i noticed a shell on the plug ( its from ora and they glued shells to the plug) looked like it has xenia on it.

Its in my 20gL for now.

Ive heard mixed stories of xenia.. being a pest or not.. what do you guys think this is. This is the best pic i coulf get. See the arms under the shell with the red zoa ?

Sure looks like it. They can grow out of control, it all depends if you like them or not.

Guess ima keep it out if my 135.. dont need a coral to grow nuts.. .. just sqw some pics online of what it can do lol.. maybe ill save it for my smaller 2.5g tank i plan to setup

Definitely Xenia. It can grow out of control, but it really shouldn't be a problem. I have a decent sized colony in my tank and I really enjoy them. Just cut them off if you dont end up wanting them and give them to a fellow reefer or LFS!

These xenia stalks are as big as a 10 year olds forearm. Besides spreading everywhere, they get huge as well.

Couldnt i just put this coral on a seperate rock away from my main rock wall in my 135? i did that with green star polyps and havebt had a issue with them

That's what I (and most others) would do. Simply remove the rock if needed.

If you want to keep it put it on a rock in the sand I wouldn't let it on rocks it's a nuisance imo... I do keep it in the sand bed that n kenya are like weeds if I didnt pay attention id have a tank full of the stuff!

I love the movement and texture. They haven't taken over anything in mine yet, but I do prune them.
