Only towards the back wall. I cleaned most of it off but you can see close to the rocks what it looked like before cleaning. My tank is in Fallow. I was running chemi blue. It didn't help. I'm thinking maybe add a powerhead? Or Dr Tim's ? I would like to improve it while it doesn't have any fish in there. Nitrates are at 20. Using RO/DI water.

Lights are on 7 hours a day LED with two hours of moonlight.

Thats what my dinos looked like

Do you know how I can get rid of it?

If it's dinos it's a nightmare. I'm still battling mine 8 months later. May just be dietrius or something else.

Is it a fairly new tank? Are you making the rodi or purchasing it?

Looks more like diatoms to me, how long has your tank been running?

I would stir the sand lightly for a week and then let it be. I was able to cure my "brownish" sandbed by adding Phosguard (I found out I had some silicates) and by stirring sections at time. Best of luck.

What have you used?

I want to tackle this now while the fish are out!

Well it's been running for 5 years but I let it go only had one clown in there. Four months ago I removed the sand bed put in coarse sand added some different live rock. Used live sand. Bought new equipment. I've done a million water changes and this stuff just kept coming.

Making my own RO/DI water
