Hey Everyone,

I purchased a new tank yesterday. It was up and running when I picked it up and is a 90g. We broke it down, put rock and some water in the totes, and brought it home to set it up. Because it was established and running for some time is there any sort of cycle it will go through and if so how long should I expect it to take? Like I said might be a dumb question, I just have never purchased an tank like this..lol

Well hello!

And never a dumb questions...dumb questions are the ones not asked and then a problem happens.

As for the tank, its hard to tell. If you didn't disturb the sand bed too much then you should** be ok.

The best way to tell is to go put and get an ammonia / nitrite/ nitrate test kit to assure your new purchase will be ok.

Yeah I have it all. I just did not know if there was anything I might be missing. I am in no hurry to move anything from my smaller tank to the bigger one so its no big deal. I am going to test it in a little bit and see what it looks like .

Did you replace or rinse the sand? All the bacteria in the sand was disturbed when you moved the tank. If you don' replace or at least thoroughly rinse the sand, the cycle will likely be heavier thus resulting in more time you'd have to wait for things to stabilize.

I didn't get a cycle when I moved my tank to Tallahassee (6hour ride) But I also used new sand. I have enough live rock that I wasn't really too worried. You should be okay.
