This guy might beat me in a cook-off

ok, Ill give you some credit. The beef looked tasty. The reef club, needs to have us a big ole bbq competition this spring! No matter who wins, we will have some tasty food, and turn it into a nice family day.

Here are two of my most recent smokes. My Set up, Whole chicken, and Baby Backs.

Okay. You guys have inspired me to ditch my cheap gas grill......

No doubt. Lemme know how many of the top BBQ restaurants are serving you "gas smoked" BBQ.

Can't beat wood fired or charcoal!

Personally I prefer large chunks of the wood I am using. Which is apple wood.

I have not found a huge difference in the charcoal. Just don't get the match light kind

Kingsford blue in the Weber Smoky Mountain and lump in the Primo.

Chunk wood for smoke, always.

Do you prefer lump charcoal or regular? Also do you prefer wood chips or large chunks
Both chips and chunks, in 7 more days I am smoking off my jalapeño cured porkbellies for bacon.

Reefing and BBQ are 2 of my biggest passions! I'm a big EGG head!!

If you can find it in your area, try smoking some meat with manzanita. I buy the good meat that I smoke at Iowa Meat Farms here in San Diego and they started selling manzanita wood for smoking. It is unbelievably good. I don't know where they get it because it is illegal to harvest in California, but I couldn't believe the flavor it has.

By the way, I'm the proud owner of two 22.5" Weber kettles, an Oklahoma Joes side smoker, and a Brinkman 6 burner gas grill. The BBQ's only get Kingsford charcoal and wood chips. Chunk wood in the smoker. And of course gas when I am lazy and want to grill food like a wuss.

Over in Eastern NC .. wanted to share grilling . Our reef club fell before it got started .
I enjoy grilling too. @ WindeyD I am not a egghead but being an Akorn Head isnt too bad .
I think ppl still call the one I have an type egg grill .

Doooood! Why didn't we talk about smoke yesterday in Gatlinburg? I may never have left your table!

Man this all looks good. Our clinic is right down the road from Dead End BBQ. Good ribs. Any other recommendations for good BBQ (besides your house) in or around Knoxville?
