Well, no sooner than after getting my sump dilemma under control: While doing some water testing last week, my Alk was at 15 according to the calculations on my good ole Hanna Alkalinity Checker. I checked it again, same. I scratched my head and looked at my Ph on my pinpoint, 7.6, scratch my head again and looked at the controller, Phx2 6.2! Stuck my head under the cabinet...Solenoid on Co2 of the CArx was stuck open! So yea, almost finished off the job my sump started. WHEW!!! A new regulator/solenoid assembly are on the way. Until then, I have my good ole' BRS(am I allowed to say that?) Ca/Alk/Mg back-up. That is another thing to try to do, have a back-up of everything you can. This Hobby does keep you on your toes and nothing that can and will go wrong or can break, will do so at a convenient time to be able to go the store or call for proper help(at least at a decent hour). Found out that one too!!! LOL!!! Things happen... you roll with it, learn from it and pray and give thanks that it wasn't worse.

Great point to your story...this hobby certainly has its ups and downs. But if it were easy, you'd end up getting bored...lol.

I think I have done pretty good considering that this is my first almost crash it the ten or so years I have been in this hobby, I consider myself lucky and blessed. Because just like most everyone else out there mixing salt, I know just enough to get myself into trouble at times. I know I cried in the beginning when I lost a hundred dollar fish.

Anything to do with electronic/electrical/mechanical equipment will fail sooner or later. That is the reason I trust my IV dripper for big 3 dosing

Yes, I do have to admit; that there is some equipment that I have had since I have first put this tank together. Plus even when you buy good quality second-hand equipment, it too will fail sooner than predicted. I guess that is why there are always up-grades! That way your equipment doesn't get stressed/fatigued to the point of failure. I do buy good quality used equipment until I can budget for good quality new equipment. I prefer the CaRx as to dosing because once set up and depending on your demand, $25-$30 for media and $35 for Co2 every 6 months or so. I am good with that as far as Dollar Cost Average to dosing, just needs to be attended to a little more often.
