I've done that I've been told and I've checked all my levels which are 0 , so I brought a crab today and it walked around for 2 minutes it then fell of my rock and it hasn't moved since , I'm really confused to why this is happening ? That's after putting new sand new water , I've cycled my tank , I have green aglae growing and everything look fine , but clearly isn't ..... Please help ...

How high is your SG. what type of water are you filling with Do you have a skimmer? are you running any carbon Or gfo. Do you have any dosing systems hooked up.. What is your PH and ALK at Have you dosed Iodine at anytime What type of sand did you put in what type of rock? If you added the sand after the cycle the tank cycled again when you added the new sand. What did you use to cycle the system with (shrimp/fish) Just a few questions I would really look at your PH and Alk though. also How did you acclimate the crab?

My ph is 8, my nitrate and nitrite and ammonia are all 0 , my friend does my water , he has is own tank and as had no problems at all ? When I put the crab in I floated the bag for 10 mins then add my water to the bag slowly . I have carbon in my filter . I running a eheim pro 300 . I hope I've answered everything . Should I have a fish in my tank to cycle ?

This is how my tank looked before we had to move it . Gutted

Fish or raw table shrimp works good to. How long ago did you do the move? And how much of the old water did you save?

The move only toke about 30 minutes and we save most of the water , I am baffled why this happening . I never had any of these problems when I started out lol

If you have GHA growing then you more than likely have high phosphates. You may want to check that, also try testing for silicates.

I am one of those people who thinks everyone should have a ground probe for stray voltage. DO you have one??

Don't know if anyone has brought this up, but we started losing stuff in our tank one time, couldn't figure out what was going on, finally we saw that the hearter in the tank had busted, causing all kinds of havoc.

Crustaceans have to be acclimated very slowly. Drip system works best.
Algae problems are probably the result of stirring up your sand bed and getting all the nutrients back into the water. You need to be running some type of Phosphate remover

Just an update , my water is perfect , we had it checked at wharf aquatics which is one of the best marine specialist in the country , so we tryd another crab and that died to ! What more could it be ? I thought if the water was ok that was everything ?? Help

New sand is what i'm guessing. Could have started a mini cycle, phosphates and would be the reason your seeing the algae growing everywhere.

If the water is perfect... I would be leaning towards stray voltage. Look online for the steps needed to test for the voltage and if detected, turn off the offending device. Typically it's a powerhead or heater.

When you had the water tested, did they test for copper too? Copper is highly toxic to corals and inverts like crabs. Any detectable amount is too much.

You wouldn't happen to be running Kent carbon would you? It was recalled about a month ago if you didn't hear for containing really high amounts of metals.
