I was wondering if the rodi water for my auto top off would be ok in an oak barrel? Trying to think of something that won’t be an eye sore. Keep my wife happy.

I’m not sure about that, but how about a food grade barrel made to look like an oak barrel on the outside?

Can you post a photo and details about the size of the tank? It seems like there should be a better solution.

I agree with the food/water safe storage container inside an Oak Barrel Exterior (or something that looks like one). To me keeping water in a wood barrel for any length of time is not a good idea, and definitely not RODI water that is going in your tank.

Is it a 65 gallon? (what are the tank's dimensions?)

What will be under the tank inside the stand?

We have a giant plastic trash can we put all of our rodi water in. Could you put a barrel over that?

The tank is 65 gallon 36”x18”x24”. Under the tank is a sump/refug. I messed up so it’s a tight fit. Now I’m thinking of building a cabinet I can fit a 5 gallon bucket for an ATO.

Spray the inside with that plastikote. Of course the plastikote may have chemicals that may be a problem even after it cures. That would require someone with a bit more knowledge then myself. Just throwing ideas at ya

Put a food safe liner and you should be fine.
This is what I was about to suggest. You could use the oak barrel for the aesthetics, and just put some food grade container inside it to be the actual reservoir.

FlexSeal is safe to use as pond liner, so plastikote probably is too. It just needs time to cure and finish off-gassing.
