Ah, that explains it. With that size tank, that amount of alk additive is a very low amount (about 0.3 dKH per day) and nothing that needs unusual explanations.

Ok, I will continue doing what I am doing then, to slowly bring it up. Maybe go up to 3 ounces a day for a while. That's where I started but lost a digitata colony, but I was dumping it all in at once instead of dripping it all day. So it was probably from the pH spike.

Randy : I see you mentioned MetaSorb and it says it removed Aluminum. I have a higher than normal aluminum reading from ceramic based bio media and I also have higher than normal Lithium reading (I have no idea why on this one). Will MetaSorb, to the best of your knowledge, help with aluminum removal that is caused by ceramic biomedia (alumina??)? Also, do you know anything, other than water changes with a known Lithium free salt, remove Lithium from my system?

I do not know on the metasorb and what it removes (I do not know what it is chemically), but I strongly doubt any of these sorts of products can remove lithium to any useful extent. No, I know of no other ways either, but unless it is super high, I wouldn't worry).

I have heard it reported that GFO can remove aluminum, and if so, products like the metal binding materials (e.g., metasorb) may also work.
