I thought i’d share this monster of a bristleworm discovered when i dipped my corals.

Alongside some Asterina.

Easy to say when you haven’t chosen the tank inhabitants already..

But in my case i have.

Bristle worms are not a pest and I would think that most tanks have them... far more of them than you would think.

I can appreciate that and agree. I never did say they were a pest and unfortunately they were ejected when dipping my new frag.

For the future, how would you preserve the bristleworms as opposed to the asterina?

I would preserve both, just scoop them out of the dip water and into a fresh cup. Asterinas, most worms, baby brittles, even large amphipods, commensal crabs, etc.

I do dip corals, as you never know what is going to fall out.. but mostly for AEFW and bad worms and nudis.

Thank you for this, they did become unresponsive after a few minutes of the dip taking effect, i didn’t see on the bottle of dipx that it would kill them.

I will do this in the future as looking twice on the benefits it was a mistake.

It is up to you if you want to keep the stuff that falls out or not. It depends on what you use for dip, but most stuff lets go fairly quickly if you swish the coral around and you can scoop it out before it dies.
