Finalizing my list for my 90 gallon reef tank I'll be builing. This is my first so I'm trying to make sure I'm doing it right. I definitely want to make sure my lighting doesn't restrict my coral options but I'm not rich either. The 2 I'm looking at are the Micmol and Current USA. Both was going to get the largest for my tank which is 48x18x24. Any thoughts? Any others in this price range that would be better?

What if I also ran a t5 during the day cycle of either of those lights? Cheap option for some additional help isn't it? I like the different lighting effects the led's can provide

Is this actually true? I’ve been following led lighting threads and this is the first I’ve heard this.
It’s not necessarily depending on the model of current.

The current orbit pro (has round lenses ) has more par and power. There is an older version that has just squares that’s low power. The mic mol looks to be similar low power. You’d need two mounted kinda close to have much success and you’d likey never get into high light coral like most acros and zoas on the sand would be iffy.

Cheapest option would be the black boxes , a 30-32 in 300w or three 16 in 165 watts.

I did have an old current with 4 t5 on my 48 wide tank and oh yea it was great. That a LOT of par mounted 9in above the water.
