This Reef is ran at 4dKH and 0 Nutrients

I wanted to share a reef that always tests at 4 dKH. Even being dosed with 45ml of buffer every day. (slowly raising dosage week by week)
I am slowly raising alk but also trying to get nutrients up first so i dont run into burnt tips if the ALK is not raised enough.
This one really gets my brain going. Also makes me second guess everything ive learned in reef chemistry, lol.
There is limited procedures i can do to this tank.

I've had tanks like this before: where the sps and in my case clams would suck alkalinity and calcium as soon as I added it. There were no issues, but they grew even faster when I switched to a calcium reactor.

Currently using Brightwells 8.3 buffer, Started playing with the idea of going kalk via the Dosing pump. I am hesitant to do so as i only see it every 2 weeks.

Low AlK for a few months now. A fragging session is in the works. So with the fragging being done may change some chemistry. Not saying thats the solution. Ive got some coral battles going on.

Not really. Typically sits at 8pH. No one is ever home and house is... well... quite large. So, carbon dioxide is not as big of a factor either.

It's a really nice aspect of the hobby. My vote is to wait until one of the blue squamosa become available and snap it up. But you probably should consider a ca reactor before you dive into something with extremely high calcium and all demands. They really do need the elevated levels.

Bi-weekly w/c and slowly boosting the buffer dosage every 2 weeks. Has me scratching my head on how much its actually consuming in ALK. Slow and steady is the game plan. Thanks for checking it out!

I am sure you have thought of this, but have you checked the ALK test kit with other kits to make sure you are getting a correct reading?

I have and both came in relatively close to each other. I used a sera kit and salifert kit.
