The Plus Pro is better suited on a planted freshwater tank. Is that why you're looking into the t5s?


Yes you would have three cords. I wouldn't have the slightest idea how, but I imagine there would be a fairly simple way to connect them all. At that price point though you may want to start looking at a fixture!

A fixture will still be 3-5 times what I would spend on the retro kit. Yea this is why I was looking for t5,also I like the look of the t5. Worse cause I can hold off with this light and wait for Black Friday and get a fixture on sale.

That might be your best bet. You could get a six bulb fixture and integrate the LED bar in place of the two center bulbs. Are you planning on building a canopy to house everything?

for that yes I would. I am still looking into options. going with the DIY 4 bulb t5 and leds i will need 3 plugs on the apex just for power so not sure.

You should get a second opinion on whether or not it is safe, but I think this might solve your problem if you're planning to ramp all your bulbs in tandem. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000...3+way+plug&dpPl=1&dpID=31SPWJgL6cL&ref=plSrch

Even running three ballasts I don't think you'll excerpt the 8-amp limit on the outlet, but again I'd suggest you ask around.
