This water testing device looks cool...

Car insurance is a necessity this thing doesn’t even test NP 2 crucial parameters for a reef tank

It also doesn't test for Ammonia, Copper, Iodine, Iron, Nitrite, Phosphorous, Potassium, Salinity, Silicate, Strontium, PH, TDS, Temp but I'm sure YOU could if you really wanted too.

I don’t mind spending the 1000 dollars for the unit but the 35-40 monthly fee is way to steep !!!
I don't know about you, but my time very expensive. So the time I save and accuracy on testing. It pays for itself. Between you and I, I'm not a real doctor, I'm an entrepreneur, 25+ years.

I do agree they need to bring the price down on the reagents. I plan on picking up the Apex Trident when it becomes available. A two month supply of reagents for it is $45. So basically it's half the price. Unless I'm missing something.
In order for the Trident reagents to last 2 months (many people get 6 weeks), Your schedule has to be for the minimum possible testing which is 4 tests a day for 3 parameters ( 4 Alk only tests, 2 combined all 3 parameters). The Mindstream tests 10 parameters every 15 min.

I see you have the Trident. Which system would you recommend?

Hard to say. I’m very happy with the Trident. I have the Apex system and a lot of modules, and Trident does allow for controlled dosing of Alk/Cal/Mg via the Neptune Dos, which is great. Mindstream does not yet offer controlled dosing. So, if you have an Apex, I think Trident is the better option at this time.

I like the idea of no titration and no wasted water from the tank, but I need to see more people being successful long term with this thing before investing. When I think what it costs and the hassle of the KH director, and the lack of supply of the Trident, this option seems like a pretty good one, especially if all I have to do is replace a disc once a month.
I use a alkatronic and dosetronic and they are rock solid at keeping my parameters in check KH has been rock solid for 8 months same with my Ca and Mg . Alk reagent also last over a year and it 17 cents a test

You obviously have disposable funds to buy 3 units and pay 105 bucks a month and shell out 3 grand for the 3 units..... you my friend are in the minority and I’m happy that you’re able to do that !!!!
The unit can be used on as many tanks as you want. No need to buy multiple units regardless of how many tanks you have.

The argument about whether or not something that works well is too expensive is fruitless. Everyone has a different amount of money they are happy or willing to spend on different aspects of this hobby. For me, I don’t really care much about the cost of something that works well and improves my enjoyment of the hobby. 20 years ago it was a completely opposite point of view for me; price was the most important consideration.

The real question is whether or not (or to what degree or with what compromises) something works well, doing what it claims to do. That’s why I find helpful discussions that focus on reviewing an item and talking about pluses and minus, and find conversations about price/value totally unhelpful. Sometimes anti-helpful when they devolve into personal snipes.

It's funny!
People trolled mind stream for years before the launch. The comments on fb disgust me at times. It's more funny to see people trolling even after the launch and when the actual sales started.
The product is different, there is nothing similar and it comes with a price point. They aren't gonna sell it as per your convenience price. They must have done market research for the price point to be set. Live with it. Don't go ranting about it when you can't have it or afford it. Appretiate the work they put in. I'm not a mind stream owner nor I can afford it at this point but still I don't rant like many others.

I ordered mine 2-weeks ago. Can't wait to get it in (4 weeks or so to go ;-))
I ordered on July 1st, the first day it was publicly available, in the morning when orders opened up. They are now telling me late October. I am pretty sure they know they are not making any of the delivery deadlines they are talking about, but it will hurt their image too much to admit it.

Well, if I've learned nothing else in this hobby I've learned patience. Perhaps I'll get one from your batch (hope is my strategy ;-) ). As long as they meet my other expectations with the system performance I'll forgive the late delivery.

You can buy a 6 month supply of reagents for the Trident for $99. That's less than $17 a month.

15-17 bucks would be a fair price for the subscription especially after shelling out 1000 bucks the start

I just found out this product the other day when i posted this article.... I don't understand how its considered trolling when people have their own opinion and views? As for myself i can afford to buy this product and i don't mind spending the 1000 bucks for the unit it the overpriced monthly sub that's the big turnoff.

I am going to be fallowing the R2R owners thread on this product very very closely

Agree, Bump the monthly price down and I think it will really take off. $20-$25 monthly.

Or if there was a way to buy a set number of tests, that would be great. Do I really need to have and see all these continuous tests everyday especially when my tank has stabilized? If one could buy say 30 sets of tests and the recharge or rebuy another disc then it would be worth it in my eyes and wallet. This way you only pay for what you need and actually see. Kind of like car washes. Pay for a certain amount up front and put it on your Mikes car wash card. Wishful thinking?

100% appeal to the masses in the hobby and crush your profit margin on volume world wide!!! If it works as intended
