Well I can't find my two peppermint shrimp that I purchased 2 weeks ago.....haven't seen them in ALMOST 2 weeks. My aiptasia are as happy and healthy as they have ever been!! HELP!!!! I hate these aiptasia and they seem to be mocking me!!!!

berghia nudibranchs. reeftown.com you won't see them either but in a few months, you won't see aptasia either
I had one of those months ago......still have aiptasia. They are driving me crazy!! Should I buy more than 1? I have no idea what happened to the one I had.

how many gallons is your tank? go to that website, it has an estimator. the more you buy the better the outcome and the price as well.

Are the aiptasia rather large?
And how many are we talking about?
No they are not very large at all. The biggest is smaller than my little fingernail, some are much smaller....at least the ones that I can see. I may have 10-15. I've tried lemon juice, aiptasia x, to no avail. This is why I bought the peppermint shrimp.

With only 10 to 15 of them I would use superglue.
It doesn't take much, if you touch it with the tip of a superglue bottle it will pull in then take a small amount of glue and seal the hole up.
You will never see it again :-)

Peppermint shrimp are a hit or miss (usualy miss), berghia nudibranchs are a proven failure... see if you can find a filefish, they are ***** but effective.

berghia nudibranches are the best and most effective way of eating aiptasia. It is proven they work, the only thing they eat is aiptasia, so its either they starve and wither away or they go eat and live, so there is no hit or miss with these guys unless you have natural predators of them. Go to Saltyunderground.com read their little q&a about the berghias if you dont have any natural predators you will be ok, and the aiptasia will disappear. I just did it in a 90 gallon SPS tank, got 12 berghias and within a month all aiptasia is gone. Had one the size of a quarter and ones that were tiny. Also i have a six line wrasse that did not eat them, the nudi's only come out at night to eat and hide in crevices during the day.

Filefish and peppermints have a chance of eventaully eating coral. Have had peppermints wipe out some acans (theyd rip out any food of acans would catch out during the day, and also just ate the acans, yes they were peppermints not camelbacks), filefish is hit or miss but any zoas you have are at risk.

I got a CBB on a whim and it wiped out all my aiptasia in a few weeks. Then it moved on to my wellso, acans, and clam... He did a great job in my DT but I still have some in my sump, and I suspect overflow. Im going for berghias next time.

The peppermints are nocturnal. Check after the lights go out.

Will def try this next, thanks

Are they going to bother my corals?
Yes, filefish are hit or miss if they eat coral or not, theyre like angels. Berghia nudibranches are the only things that will not be hit or miss. They will not harm corals and will eat aiptasia, as its their only food source. Its like saying a mandarin wont eat pods, doesnt happen.
