I still kicking around setting up a zoa/ric tank and I can get a solara without any lights for a nice price.
So i when i started checking into lights for it "and i dont want to hang one"
I found a couple of options.
A 6x18watt t-5 or a 1x150 watt with 2x18 watt 2-5 light system.

What are your thoughts on whitch one would be better over a 20x20x20 tank set up for zoas and rics.

im sure you'll be fine with the either, just place your corals for their needs

+1 - either will be fine. I had a 150W MH + 2x18W T5 actinics over my aquapod 24 for two years and loved it! Just recently swapped to LEDs, though.

I have a 250 watt sunpod on my Solana...

I have SPS at all levels and zoas/palys half way down and on the bottom.

I would like to add some actinics but I am saving for a larger tank. So, going with a 150 watt and t5's will work well.

I have a 150 HQI over my 28gallon EcoSystem Mini, and I am just using the legs so it sits right on the glass. I use to have the same light hang about 8 -10 inches above a 10 gallon. As long as you can keep the heat down it will be fine.

I have a 250MH with 4 (24watt ) T5s in my 37 gal. No problem, I even have some polyps 5-6" from the waters surface.

The LEDs that I got are from a friend of mine. He got hooked up with a supplier and got some fixtures to test out. I got one of them with the intention of being a guinea pig. It has 90 LEDs at 1W each - 45 white and 45 blue. The color is very very nice. The colors of the corals are changing a bit and definitely for the better. Some SPS were a bit brown under the MH + T5's and they are looking great under the LEDs. Some of the softies stressed a bit for the first week but they are adjusting to the much stronger lights now.
