My old school thoughts never entertained them, but lately, I've been seriously considering one for probable benefits.

Any thoughts on brands?

I've been thinking maybe about the following and would value your input.

Thank you.

Santa Monica Filtration HOG1x Hang-On-Glass Algae Scrubber

I'd be all over a scrubber if I could get one on my system. Way to many benefits. Sump with chaeto doesnt always work.

Yeah, if you can fit one well worth the effort. I've been running one since the mid 90's, though always a DiY version.

Santa Monica is the worst bang for buck.

Ats is like fuge on steroids. The only draw back, compared to fuge, is no safe place away from feeding mouths for pods, and you have to clean it more often. They both do the same thing, ats does it in less space

There was a DIY algae scrubber based on the Santa Monica HOG design in one of the recent threads here; looked pretty cool.

Having said that, I'm a fan of refugium + chaeto + good LED grow light as that works very well for me.
