Anyone own fluval lighting or filter/powerhead products? I have a Fluval Nano Marine Light... 25K 20Watts. I have a 20 gallon tank and im wondering if this light is good enough to produce coral growth. I'm also using two 240gph powerheads for flow. I created this tank with a small budget and I know I could upgrade but I'm not for spending $100s per product. It looks like Im going to need a new filter soon and I'm wondering if I should purchase another fluval product or something else. Any suggestions? Good budget suggestions?

Fluval lights are great for growing freshwater plants, but I would not recommend any of their saltwater lights. They just don't seem to have the proper spectrum and the video reviews I have seen show very low PAR. There are much better budget friendly lights out there. I don't remember the brand names since I did my research over a year ago, and I decided to go with more expensive lights, but I am sure others will speak up with brand names and or links to better light choices.

As far as the filters go, I have a pair of Fluval C4s on a 45 gallon FOWLR tank that does great. It has a few chambers for different media and is easy enough to break down and clean. Fluval filters are the best HOBs in my opinion. I would recommend some kind of HOB or external Skimmer if you want to keep coral though to get the water a bit cleaner.

As far as flow, that seems about right for that size tank. Just pay attention to the flow and where you place coral. Make sure any higher flow coral is in the higher flow areas and lower flow coral are in lower flow areas and you should be fine.

Good luck! ;Happy

I’ve got 2 of those Fluval Marine Nano lights over my Fluval Evo 13.5G and have no complaints. I only really keep leathers and zoas but they’re all growing at a good pace with new zoas popping up all the time. I’ve got leathers on the sand bed that are noticeable growing all the time.
