Thoughts on Marineland and Deep Blue 60 gallon cubes...

I'm looking to setup a new tank, and will probably go with a 60 gallon cube. I have the option of a Marineland 60 or the Deep Blue rimless cube.

I've had a Marineland 45 cube and thought it was built very well, but the bracing was thick and I didnt care for the slimline overflow.

The Deep Blue tank is rimless (a positive) and I like their corner overflow better. But I had a DB 90 and the tank developed a very small leak after about one year. To qualify this, the leak was almost immeasurable.. Also, I had built the stand, and I'm not 110% sure it was completely level.

I've heard roughly the same about the marineland and have only heard a few issues with the deep blue tanks, and that may have been when they were first coming out.

Does anyone have experience with either of the above tanks?

I would go deep blue. I have heard some bad stories about fish getting in the slimline overflows.

Have either of you heard about any of the quality issues with deep blue?
I'm pretty sure they'll be fine, but 60 gallons of saltwater leaking into my living room would probably get me killed.

I own a Deep Blue 30g rimless and really like it. The silicon work may not be as nice as custom builders but the price was killer. I've had my DB for about 6 months with no issues on a DIY stand. I set up a friends Marineland 60 cube so I do have experience with theirs as well. My mother actually has a 70g cube tank by Marineland that has a bad seam and the store she bought it from had a few others fail as well.

Hopefully which ever tank you decide on was manufactured on Tues.-Thurs. of the week, lol!

I have a deep blue 80 gallon look down tank and love it.

id go deep blue aswell marinelands quality as of late has gone out the window last marineland cube tank i saw had about 1.5" wide of silicone bead on all glass panes while this could be cleaned up some it just should have been done at the factory not just slapped together thats why i dont like them anymore if they can looks past that much of a bead what else are they looking past

That's crazy about the silicone! ...my 45 was very well done so I'm surprised.

30 Gallon here with no complaints so far. Wish i had gone with the 60...Next time around i'll plan ahead and get the 80...Lol

So I finally made up my mind last night and ordered the Deep Blue Rimless cube with the corner overflow. Does anyone have the exact dimensions of the bottom trim? I'm trying to get my stand build started and need to know if there's an extra 1/4 inch or whatever that I'll need to plan for.

Deep blue 60 rimless has to be one of the hottest tanks out there.

I have the 30 rimless and love it. I have had it a little over a year with no issues with the tank. My only suggestion would be to replace the bulkheads that it comes with. They were poor quality in my opinion and one actually broke on me during installation. The nut broke at the seam in it. Other than that I think it's a great tank. Best of luck with your new build.

Thanks for the heads up. I had the same bulkheads on the 90 gallon and will probably end up replacing them on the 60 cube.
