Cool, think I’m going to get one of those and possibly a little barnacle blenny. Would those get along? They can definitely be jumpers. I have one. Was bright yellow. Put him in a 200g with a bicolor blenny and the Midas morphed to a brown color. Has been very hardy. Took to eating right away in observation. Fairly active swimmers and we totally love when he backs into a hole to hide.
Yeah the barnacle is a bottom dweller from what I know. I don’t think my tank will be overstocked but definitely at its limit when I add the Midas. I might go with both, introduce at same time and see how it goesI have no idea how they would get along. But I think from what I just looked at, that the barnacle looks more like a bottom dweller. Tank size is important also. I have mine in an overstocked lol 210g Red Sea S1000. But I also have the bi-color, 3 purple fire fish, 4 red fire fish, a jeweled blenny, a dragon blenny, scooter blenny, Ruby red dragonets plus tangs cardinals amphias and more.
I probably wouldn’t pair with a canary or other more closely colored or shaped blenny, but I push the envelope. I have 6 tangs and two rabbit fish in this tank, but I QT’d them and introduced them at the same time. That seems to keep them from staking their territory quite so strong. Same would probably work with the blennies. I also have a weaver goby.
When I first added the Midas, he nipped (I think it was him) the fins pretty good on the bi-color. They wanted the same hole in a rock even though the bicolor was already there. They have been together for 6+ months now and they don’t bother each other.
Interesting. Thanks for input! The only Midas I ever had was extremely aggressive and killed a firefish and goby before he was ejected from the tank. YMMV
I have a bi-color and haven’t seen any of that.Does anyone have experience about coral nipping? I had a bicolor blenny and had to return it because it was nipping my brain corals.

That’s really interesting to hear that your Midas took so long to be an active member of your tank. Just more evidence that each fish really does have their own individual personality. Wiggles has been in the tank for about 3 weeks and is almost always out swimming the top part of the tank. She did stay subdued for the first week or so - partly due to Astrid our starry blenny who would roll over her at every opportunity! I’m glad yours is now out and about! My Midas used to nip at a gorgonian growing on her barnacle house. She likes to keep things tidy around her barnacle and it may have been related to that behavior. The nipping went on for maybe a few weeks but she eventually gave up on getting the gorgonian to leave and hasn't nipped at it in a long time now.
She can get a bit territorial about her house and if she's in a mood might snap at fish and inverts who get too close but she is generally peaceful and gets along with other fish.
When I first got her she hid in a bolt hole on the back side of the tank and I hardly saw her. This went on for months. Then she had a change of heart and became one of my most active fish, always out swimming front and center. This was also around the time that she moved into the barnacle.
It took time for her to settle in but she's turned into a great addition to the tank. Really fun to watch.
