Looking to upgrade my lights, currently have reef radiance on my tank. Saw the mitrax led lights does anyone have them or know a thing about them ?

I’ve had the mitras lx7, and I have moved on.

It is a great, powerful, very adjustable light with great spectrum. It has 6 “pucks” so the light is very diffuse relative to most LEDs.

IMO it was difficult to setup. I do not have a PC. I needed to figure out how to get an emulator for my Mac. I found it hard to setup the wifi adjustability with the app. There are weird settings where you will not get the most out of the light in terms of par with some internal temperature regulation.

Maybe if you’re pretty techie, these things would not much of a barrier to this light. But I found the barriers to be too much. I used it for several months over my frag tank, but eventually sold it and moved on.

I am so not a techie lol if it's like that then no.what did u settle on ?

@Brew12 might chime in here. He has 3 on his 187 and it looks really nice.

Maybe he can help with the techie part.

I went with a refurb sunpower over the frag tank, which is the opposite of techie :).

On my DT I have a led/t5 hybrid. Kessil ap700 is the led portion, which is pretty straightforward. Can’t mess that up.

Thanks for the invite.

Yup, I have 3 of them and absolutely love them. But I will agree, they can be a challenge to set up. It's not complicated or difficult to set up but it is a challenge. There are so many options and so many ways to program them it can be overwhelming. With that comes great flexibility.

I have 5 over my 220 gallon, 7’ tank. I’m about to move to 7 to fill in shadowing issues. The quality of light is really really good. Even if I turn up the red I don’t see disco like other lights. Really the only complaint is the setup. You need to use Windows (ugh) and you have to connect to each one with a cable to set them up.

Once you iron out your lighting schedule though, you can just sit back and relax. I went months without connecting and mucking with them.

Fortunately, you only need to do this once to set up base parameters and program the master/slave network. Changes to the actual lighting program can be made via a wireless network by connecting to the light assigned as the master.
