Thoughts on my PH swing....

Thanks Randy. My concern is also with the low, not the swing. I've read some of the link you sent and look forward to completing the read when I'm not working 16hr days.... Lol much appreciated! [emoji16]

You're welcome.

Happy Reefing. :)

A little update is due to a weather change that has allowed me to open up the house.

As you can see from my latest graph my PH has been much more stable and within acceptable ranges. This confirms my thoughts , it's a CO2 issue. So with that said I've already made a couple of changes and have set a path to follow . The low PH readings were really my only concern. Since I'm not currently dosing anything, and I've checked my alk and calcium, I believe a little kalkwasser is in order. Doing this will help with 2 things. It will increase my alk and calcium, and it will have the added bonus of a PH bump. I look forward to putting this minor bump in the road behind me.

If its not your alk fluxing or kalk dosing, looks to be c02 related, i just went through this last week from the hot weather that approached. Usually i keep my windows open, but had to shut them to run my ac so i finally got the air line from outside to my skimmer.
My skimmer has been randomly overflowing ... once a week or so since about 3 weeks ago. Just as it started to warm up outside. My house usually stays at 74-78 degrees during the day. And at night it's gets cooler out sob we open windows. My question is , can the drop of temp be what's making my skimmer freak out ? I'm like 99% sure it overflows while I'm at work doing graveyard. It's warmer during the day in my house, but I always run the ac, so it doesn't get above 77-78 inside. Usually sits around 76 degrees

FYI, I drilled a hole in the outside wall, and ran my skimmer line directly to the fresh air. I was having Issues with the ph being low, for the reason the house was closed up all the time. By doing this my low ph was fixed.

I did the same thing . If you follow this link you'll see a write up I did on the subject. The results were promising , but alas not enough.... Still has issues. When I open up the house the results are immediate.

I seen someone explaining a while back that the outside temperature/and or pressure can flux the foam head. Personally i havnt seen a difference other then my skimmer working better now that i added an outside line. It could be, you can also buy c02 scrubbing media

Tell that to my wife and kids! Oh yea and 2 dogs!

I'm not home enough to contribute ! Lol

I think you should come over and blow all that hot air out! [emoji6]
:D:D:D I have a fan down at the office that sounds like a prop engine when I turn it on, but that baby can move some air:) Your tank is not that old either. I had the same issue for about 6 months, I also have the top of my tank open with a ceiling fan blowing on the tank with 2 gyre 130"s moving water on the surface. My Ph right now is 8.29 alk is 9.3

I don't think the temp has much to do with a skimmer overflowing.
