Thoughts on purchasing anemones on Liveaquaria

I was recently looking at liveaquaria's WYSIWYG section for any good BTAs, but wanted to see if anyone had experience, good or bad, when purchasing anemones from liveaquaria. Please share your experiences, they will be greatly appreciated!

I just recently purchased clown fish and a anemone they have good deals in the divers box I know people who only buy from them. I love them I can always count on them anytime I need help and I dial there number they always pick up never put me on hold don’t give me a half response. When I had a problem with my tank they held my order at there place for 4 weeks for me! Over all if I find what I’m looking for and the price is similar to anyone else I will always choose them nothing but A+ quality.

I definitely would my only problem with them is the shipping charge when you can go to a lfs and have them order it for you and not be charged for any of that and the 10$ box charge but if you’re ordering over a 100$ I would just buy it since it’s free shipping

I'd be shocked if a fellow local reefer didn't have one to give away, sell for cheap or trade. Two guys just traded in a total of 35 to my LFS. Do you have a club in your area?

I also buy from LA, but when I purchase anemones I like to purchase tank raised or aquacultured. They are hardier, especially if you're new to keeping anemones. Something to think about. Sometimes paying a few bucks more for a hardy animal is worth more than buying two or three times for animals that don't acclimate well to our artificial reef tanks.

Funny. Whenever I've bought anemones online from LA or SWF they die within a week or two. The BTAs I've gotten from my LFS thrive

There is a big difference between wild caught and aquacultured. Just from my experience between ordering from two different sources recently. I will always buy from someone that I know is farming them over someone that doesn't state the source of the anemone.

I know Petco gets a bad rep but my local Petco is actually pretty good los of frags and they even just got a purple tang and you can’t beat the prices, I picked up a 2.5-3 inch bta for 30 then 10 off for a coupon so 20 dollars in store

I don’t usually shop there tho bc I like to support my lfs’s but I check it out usually bc the prices are unmatched

I bought a BTA anemone from TSA, I didn’t have a good experience with it because the anemone wouldn’t expand, kept hiding under the cave with no light and not eating anything. Unfortunately, it passed away. I had a BTA before from a different place in my same tank and it went so well until I sold it.

I got one from them, wrong color and it died after like a week and half. It was good that they refunded me.

I agree. I've never seen an lfs that didn't have them and you can look at them and make sure they are healthy. Also you might be an experienced reefer if so then please don't take this the wrong way. I would make sure and do alot of research and make sure your ready for what all comes with keeping anemones. I have one I wish I could give you as once it gets too big I'm probably going to remove it and this is in a 6' tank. I wouldn't put one in a tank that hasn't matured for at least 12 months either. They do not like fluctuations in your water parameters.

I bought a green BTA from LA last week. He came slightly bleached with a gaping mouth and had big clumps of dead tentacles that I had to clean off. He’s doing ok currently and I think growing some new tentacles and my lightning maroon clown loves him. I’m going to try to get it to get more color back and start bubbling it’s tips. May take a while though.

My very first anemone came from Petco, years later I gave it away when we upgraded. Way to many people hate on Petco when I've gotten plenty of good stuff from that store.

I ordered two from Divers Den a few months back, one was DOA in the bag and the other melted over a period of two weeks, while other BTAs in the same system were in perfect condition. I’ve had better luck with BTAs from WWC and Aquarium Care Center, but I just put an order in for a few from AquaSD (currently 50% off).

My experience with Divers Den could have been an outlier, but I’m hesitant to order anemones from them again.

I try to avoid the Transportation Safety Administration at all cost all they do is try to touch me where I would not prefer nevermind trying to buy a BTA from them.
