Thoughts on reef-roids?

I am thinking about purchasing some reefroids for my goniapora who seems to
be struggling a little bit lately... can anyone give me some information on this stuff? What types of coral will/will not eat it? What does it do for the corals? Thanks!

Do to its fine powder consistency and when mixed with tank water it will feed a large range of corals. I find its one of the best options for spot feeding goniopora. It is good stuff. Just don't over do it. If you feed too often it could lead to high nutrients which = algae/bacteria problems.

I use it. But I found on its own I couldnt raise nutrients with it while trying to combat dinos. So it's pretty clean in my experience.

Now since the tank has recovered and I've gotten nutrients where I want them I feed a mix of roids with rods food twice a week(along with feeding the fish nls pellets 2x a day) . I do a mix of spot feeding and broadcasting.

I use reefroids. Its great for spot feeding filter feeders like zoas, goniopora. I'll usually broadcast feed a small amount which gets my acans into feeding mode

All my LPS are fed with roids twice a week for about a year now. Single head torch and hammer has grown to 3-4 heads. Mix it to a paste like consistency and direct feed. Gives you a lower chance to raise nutrients. A little really goes a long way.

I also use roids. Corals love it and I can say with certainty that my corals grew much bigger after using it. My shrimps go crazy when I feed, they can smell it but can’t eat anything. Very funny

Unfortunately, my shrimps go straight to both hammers and torches to steal the roids. I feel bad having to shoo both from my corals.

Lol. I always reward my shrimps with a piece of a scallop each. Just big enough for them to gnaw on for 2-3 mins.

Bought the expensive stuff, used the entire bottle. Didn't notice any difference from reef roids to spot feeding mysis to my lps. It will raise nutrients significantly, so a little does go a long way.

The only positive is the smell does illicit a feeding response from corals that don't normally extend tentacles during the day. But with spot feeding mysis, once the smell hits the water for a few seconds, all LPS extend tentacles.

You are not the first person I’ve heard say that. ;Hilarious With that said, all reef roids is is zooplankton. You could in theory feed cyclop-eeze with similar results so long as they’re not the farmed type.

This is a super old post, how did you clean up the dinos?

As long as you use it sparingly and have the proper filtration, you will be fine. It causes Cyanobacteria in my all in one system to be careful.
