I’m wondering if someone has tried this and what was the outcome? In a reefer170, I removed the bubble trap sponge and filled the area with Vida block, supposed to be very porous for bacterial qualities and I’m thinking a pod population. Any thoughts? One plus, they stay put and don’t rise when pump is turned off. Should I put the sponge back? Will this be a detritus trap?

Scratch that idea, hard to remove the blocks from that space. Octo Aquatics pen filled with them instead for easy removal.
