Hi folks,

Thinking about getting a couple of these for my 75 gal reef tank. My thought was to mount them to the back wall of the tank, pointing toward the front.

Do any of you have any experience with this brand/unit? The reviews on Amazon are pretty mixed.

Also, do you think two of the PP4's will be enough, or should I move up to the PP8? That is, if I decide to buy these.

I'm a little leary of the Chinese powerheads. The power cord pulled out of one that I had, fried some wiring in my house, and killed my tank.

Thanks,

-Breck

I'm using two of these powerheads in my Nuvo 40 and I placed in the back wall.
So far everything is good but sometimes you may need to reset it to have them working correctly.
Overall is a good budget powerhead with good features, I use mine with wave 1 and speed 4.

Just got a pp-8 the other day and so far its been great. A bit of vibration noise above 50% power but I only notice that in a silent room. The wave features are little basic but it still can make a nice wave.

Have 1 Jebao PP4 Wavemaker in my BC29 for about 8 months and no issues, no noise or vibration.;)

Curious on how did you placed these on Nuvo 40. Does the dry side goes into the water too? Got pic?

Have you looked at the new cp series? This is similar to the gyre and what I went with this time around

Yes I place the magnets into the water.

I have 2 pp8s in my 125 they work well. I would keep up with cleaning. I have had issues with their power supplies failing, not on this set but my rw series and my return pump. I now keep a spare. that is something that I have read with all pumps.

I look at it this way, for what you pay for a name brand pump I can buy 4 of these.

Thanks for all the input, folks!

As per Knapp870's recommendation, I think I might look into the CP instead. Found one for $110.
