Thoughts on The R2R Family?

I’m sure many non-Reefers see R2R members as one big crazy, slightly dysfunctional, maybe nutty group but it’s probably one of the most caring and inclusive families I have ever seen and proud to be part of!

Amazed by this site where Reefers genuinely care about other Reefers and go out of their way to help others. The attention, the specifics, and the understanding truly impresses me.

In a day and age of crazy politics, slanted news, and everyone out for themselves, R2R and their Reefers continue to impress me with their inclusiveness and their willingness to help.

Thank you and appreciate your thoughts on the R2R Family!

Don’t want anything. By luck I started my first 34 gallon aquarium last April. By September I had upgraded to a 90 gallon. Along the way, I found this forum, made many new friends, and have learned so much about reef keeping. Best part, I watch very little television now and read significantly less news. That time has been replaced by enjoying my aquarium and reading R2R!

I agree. If it wasn’t for all of the great people here, reefing would suck. Made quite a few friends here and not just forum friends. Real life true friends that help with reefing and life if needed.

I recently had a tank crash which wiped out everything, as i am the only reefer in my family nobody understood how heartbreaking it was, but the kindness and support i got from this forum was like no other, and i will always be grateful to everybody on here who had a kind word to say and for the moral support.
Truly a great place to be.

Really feel for you and sorry about the crash!

Funny that someone can be so far away from you but you feel connected to them and understand their reefing experiences/loses. Best wishes in re-establishing your next reef!

So very true! I have the same experience with some of the livestock people as well, mainly the show people who spend time and money like we do.

This topic hits close to home, I run my tank like a giant family. For better or worse, everyone is in the tank together. I did have a beautiful wrasse once, but had to get rid of it when it transitioned from female to male. Couldn't risk having such an un-family friendly fish remain in my tank, that would ruin the whole community aesthetic I was desperately trying to maintain through years of growth and praise by everyone that looked at it.

I thought I had this reefing thing somewhat figured out until this forum and lots and lots of research. Turns out I’m just scratching the surface! Very thankful to have found R2R and people’s input and experiences! You guys are all amazing!! Young padwan out ✌

I think that speaks to the R2R community as a whole. There are times when reading through the posts, learned something new and never took the time to thank the member for sharing their knowledge and experience.

Maybe you can invite the wrasse for a brief visit.. it is... er... um... pride month. Every family has a er... um.. an outcast that gets an occasional token invite to a family gathering.

If I am being honest, you are right. This place is like a family. But not the kind that you have in one household. Or the kind where you get together on birthdays and holidays. For me, this place is more like the bigger family that you gather with on the once a decade family reunions. You know, the kind where you see relatives who you only met in the last family reunion and you don't remember their names.

This place is huge. People get lost here. Huge crowds and all. And unlike the small intimate family where when you have disagreements, you have to work them out (or lose an incredibly important family relationship), this large family probably doesn't miss some of us when we don't show our faces for a good long while. And probably most don't care.
