Thoughts on these LEDs?

These are low wattage LEDs and I'd question the penetration you'd get in water.

Honest thought...garbage, won't last, would maybe work for moonlights at very best. Wouldn't even try using them for supplementation.

Crap, the blues are good for moon lights and that's about it. Don't waist your money!

I bought some of these in white for use as accent lighting around the base of my stand. They are worthless over a tank, They are way less than 1W each.

Well I bought them before I posted here.:(

They say thy can be returned within 14 days so Ill be sending them back. Sucks he advertises them as coral lights he's sold quite a bit of them. My budget is $50-75 and I really don't care if its a 75W MH or LED or T5 so I guess ill get the Odyssea T5 HO kit and replace the bulbs in a few months..

Is it just that these are the wrong LED or that they aren't enough wattage?

Thanks guys...I'm bummed

It's sucks when you think you save a buck or two in this hobby but usually trying to save some money (especially in lighting!) it ends up costing you more in the long run. It's everything that's wrong with these lights. Not only the wattage but they would barely penetrate the waters surface. Your lighting is one of the most important if not the most important thing for your reef.

What size tank were you going to use these on?

You're looking at a price jump over the strips you linked, but I"ve been very happy with the lights I"ve gotten from buildmyled.com, if you are looking for strip lighting style. You can totally customize each strip on their website. It then lets you see the spectrum you designed before they build it for you. Sounds pricier than it really is. IME, one strip is equivalent to about 2-3 T5 bulbs. And they are a LOT cheaper than some of the higher end products.

I use the Blue LED strips for my moon lights. They look pretty good, but not any good for much else.

Standard 10 gallon, lots of rock about 14lbs so everything would be at the lowest half way down.

Guess ill keep shopping

What about a par38 on a gooseneck clamp? What corals were you planning on keeping (softies, lps, sps)?

I know nothing of those bulbs, which wattage and how many for my set up? I would then just need to add some blue led's for moon lighting and to give the aquarium that bluish look, right?

I like that pinkish/purple/blue glow T5's give.

Sorry I don't see how to edit my post.. I also wanted to say I have 1' (one foot) of clearance between the top rim of my aquarium & the wall, I have it in the opening of my kitchen looking into my living room.

Here's a quick link to one of our sponsors par38:
http://reefradiance.com/dm-36e.html

That link gives you an idea. I'm running a 29 bio cube (copy link in my signature) with a par38 for you to get ideas if needed (sorry, it's kinda a newish build, but there are a few pics). I didn't want to spend extra $, so I received 1 in a trade and like it alot. If your a t5 fan (many are and look awesome), go with what you like. I'm just becoming a led fan over metal halides.
