Thoughts on what this is?

Hi All

I buy my fish pre Quaratined by the amazing DrReef who extensively Quaratines fish.

I received this guy a week ago. I’m going crazy or just need another set of eyes.

it looks like a white cyst but I think it maybe something else the more I see it

I’ve added a couple of pictures. He has 2 white dots on his front fins but he has a large one on his top fin almost coming away.

many thoughts?

This would make sense. From what I quickly read it seems water change? My water quality seems good. But I guess I can water change too if that helps!

Water change probably does not hurt, but I think lymphocystis mostly just goes away on its own over a few weeks.

Water quality and diet are two major causes. Water change never hurts when there is an issue.

I would say 'no' unless something is off with your parameters, temp, salinity - It often comes on due to stress - whether physical or chemical - changing more water is like adding more stress IMHO . under the blue light - its hard to see - but - assuming its lymphocystis - let it be - and it will be fine - UNLESS there is a problem with your water

Could use pics under white lighting for more accurate assessment but It may be lymphocystis which is very common on large angels and many butterflies.
If lympho, emphasis needs to be placed on water quality (ammonia-ph-nitrate) and diet as both species mentioned have a higher dietary requirement.

That's most likely Lymphocystis (at least the spot on the dorsal fin). It will often get worse, but then will get better over 6 to 8 weeks. It is a viral disease, so once the fish gets it, there isn't anything to be done. Doing water changes, etc., is like taking chicken soup of a cold - won't hurt, but won't cure you either.

Yea - he has only been added a week but he is eating. He is eating a blend of mysis/brine/sponge with selcon added. So yes I can imagine it’s stress since being shipped is probably not fun.
