I have been watching the anemone the last few weeks hide under a rock after going for a week long walk around the tank when I started a new light. I have noticed that over the last week, it looked like the tentacles were shrinking. Today, it was looking white with very few tips (they never fell off, just shrunk away) and finally today it detached. The only thing that I can think off is that I switched from IO RC to IO, so my alk and calcium are lower now. I did it slowly with the change to the new salt.

I tried changing water and tested constantly.

Temp 77.8
Ph 8.3
Salinity 1.025
Dkh 10
Calcium 420
Nitrate 5-10
P 0.05
Mg 1310

How old is the system?
You will get told if less than a year you should not have a Nem.
I put one in my tank after a month and it died for no apparent reason after looking real healthy and happy for a few months. Then just died

The times never turned white. The body around the mouth was pale. The system is about 6 months and I had started with live rock. It was eating until I started the new light and it walked. I left it alone as I thought it needed time.

I’m having issues too. Based on the responses I read in several similar posts, nobody knows why anything happens with these nems. Seems to be anyone’s best guess. The only thing I’ve learned was that I will wait another several months before trying again.

6 months is too soon for an anemone. There is not enough biodiversity in the tank.

Ideally you will have lots of coral thriving before introducing one of these creatures.

It's not really something that can be measured on test kits, it's the invisible 'stuff' you can't see or,measure that's important.
