Bristleworm, it’s a nocturnal scavenger. It likely came in on some rock or frags. They are good detritivores but are also quite creepy.Found this worm today, would love to know what it might be!
+1Bristleworm. Reef safe - harmless but ugly (won't go after fish, etc). Mostly eat detritus and scavenge. You'll typically see them out at night more than during the day.
I don’t look in my tank at night for this reason lolOnly one.. wait for lights go out.. and you will see a lot more! A Lot!

Cool, thanks!Bristleworm
All the fun stuff seems to happen in my tank at night...I don’t look in my tank at night for this reason lol

Yeah, regular bristleworm. If it's fiery red with white tuffs it's a fireworm - and you don't want those. Yes, they can create those sand tunnels you're referring to - although you'll most see them in or under rocks.Cool, thanks!
Just a regular bristleworm, then? Trying to look at pics online seemed like the generic "bristleworm" (I know it's a group they all fall into) is just brown with evenly distributed spikes... Thought with the red head + the white clumped spikes he might be something more exciting!
Do bristleworms construct sand tunnels? Would this be what has been making these in my tank, sight unseen, since I set it up?
Fun for me would be seeing my wrasses and hawkfish go to town on the bristleworms lolAll the fun stuff seems to happen in my tank at night...
That’s what I love about this hobby, there’s always something new and Intresting! But there is also those nasty things… like bristleworms lolIt's funny - I look in there with a flashlight most nights and this is the first time in 2 tanks that I've ever seen a bristleworm! During the daylight too... I haven't added anything wet to the tank since November; it's amazing how you can still find something new.
