So I finally realized that the two juvi triggerfish I was sent in August are both female blue throat triggers even though I order a male and female.

The seller is going to fix the mistake and send me a male, however I have to catch one of the females and rehome it which isnt a big deal to rehome. The big deal is these triggerfish are so skiddish and there is no way I will catch it with a net and I have tried the bottle trick all day today and they dont even go close to it.

Would I be able to have 2 females blue throat triggerfish and 1 male trigger fish in a 180 gallon or do I have to get rid of one of the females? Right now the females do not fight in the slighest and they actually swim together which is why I thought one may turn into a male and was too small to show its blue throat and yellow on its fin but the seller noticed they are two females too.

Yes it's no problem keeping more than one female with a male. Thing is they need to be over 4" to make sure you actually have 2 females. Some males show colors much smaller, some not until later. If both those fish are under 4" it will be like 50/50 when you put a male showing colors that you may get 2 or even 3 males.

Thanks for the reply. I would say they're over 4 inches and the seller even said they are both females and they messed up, hence why they're sending me a male with colors for free because of their mishap which is great customer service.

You are positive I could have 2 females and 1 male blue throat triggers fine? Hoping to have a lot of people chime in.

Yes I'm positive, I've even seen a few females and one male like a harem.

If the females aren't showing aggression, then keeping them both and adding a male should be fine.

Thanks guys. I would like as many responses as possible.

The females definitely are not showing aggression but I was scared that they could once I add the male, or maybe the male would keep them from fighting?
