THROWBACK THURSDAY! What was your first MAJOR equipment purchase?

Bought the tank on a whim (40 AIO) had to have a custom stand made. While waiting for those I ordered a RO/DI and a Current Loop System, But I have to Say Buying The REAL Live Rock Was the Biggest Decision or purchase.

They didn't have "dry rock" back when I started out. It was all "live". Tonga stick and Tonga rock was pretty easy to get back then.

Went from homemade leds to ecotech radions xr15x2 and x2 mounts also the reeflink one day was 1,100 my wife literally walked out the door after I can home and she saw the money gone she came back about 2 hours later we are still married and in love and she loves the hobby now.

My biggest expense was my radion xr30 light. I really love the light and it on a 40 gallon . But I really think I need a bigger reef.

I wish I could remember probably my 65w? PC fixture over my first 15g nano. I remember I had an RO only system for a brief time before I actually got an RO/DI. Before I got a bigger tank I upgraded to a used 4x24T5 system.

My first expensive piece of equipment was my current protein skimmer.

The store was going out of business and on the shelf was one new eshopps x-160 for $150. Regularly $309. Id rather have my lfs back though :(
