Tidal mesh installation.

I expect from this fuge that my nitrates will go down and my GHA dissolved.
Well it will to an extent. But it isnt a miracle. You probably dont even need to mess around doing this. Change your water regularly weekly 5g wc will fix a lot of your issues. Get aggressive do a couple 30-50% wc and scrub the algae a couple days apart then start weekly 5g water changes after and dont stop.

When I can do them I do them. Once or twice every month atp. But becuase I cant make my own salt and drive out and get some water I cant do weekly water changes which is what required without a skimmer.
I thought we talked about this a while ago. Didn’t you end up getting RODI system? Last we chatted in another thread I think it was just that you were unsure of the procedure or afraid you would mess something up. It soooo easy and a big box of salt will last several months. No need to rely on your parents’ schedule for water changes.

Ypu can buy distilled water by the gallon at the grocery store. Not ideal but better than nothing. This is your problem. If you do them 2 times a month shpuld be atleast 10g each waterchange. I would start stockpiling water for several large water changes. I bet 3 30% changes will dramatically make a differance.

Its your tank, buddy! But I think you will thank us later if you decide to take our advice :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:
I'm going to use your advice. But I really really need a skimmer I have been browsing for a while. Either flux or I'm going to use Fluval razor.

Yes I do have a RODI system. Its just pricing and I have to plan with grandparents to take me to the LFS.

Got it. Is it possible to kill everything?
I wouldn’t rush into the flux just yet. You are changing things with the Refugium addition. Always best to change one thing at a time and give the tank a chance to settle in before another major change/chemical treatment.

What if I did a skimmer instead of a fuge?

I wouldnt do either chemical. Your issue is husbandry. Waterchanges. Waterchanges and more watwr changes. Change out 40% every month for 2 months i bet the tank looks like a new tank.
FOURTY PERCENT?! Never done anything that big before makes me extremely nervous..

Why not do both? I run both on my system. If you get a skimmer, you definitely don’t need the tidal anymore, so you can completely dedicate it to the chaeto.
I see... I just wanna keep carbon and floss in that filter but yeah maybe..

Skimmer and fuge go hand in hand.

The problem with flux and razor is they are algaecides your corals also contain algae and those chemicals are not smart enough to tell the difference.

Well if you change 10% a week 6g you will do 40% a month. If i was you i wpuld be planning to change 100% of water over 2 weeks ans scrub every rock and vacum sand very very well. After 2 weeks you do 5g water change a week forever. And i mean forever. My tanks a mess also. I slacked for awhile and added new rock a cpuple weeks ago. This tank is now temporary so im not worried about fixing it. If i was i would vacum all sand and change 100% water and and cuc

LOL, I wish we had a way to wipe your memory of all things freshwater. Skimmers perform the same function as the floss in your tidal, but does a much better job. The organic particles and waste stick to the bubbles in the skimmer and go into the cup out of your tank. Rather than getting stuck in your floss where they are still in your water, continuing to decay and release nitrates/phosphates until you change the floss.
