Tide flow reef tank.

I was just wondering if anyone here has ever thought of including tidal flow in a reef tank.The system would work as follows over a period of sixs hours water water would drain out of the main tank into a reservoir (eg sump)switching off when a certain level is reached then a small pump would switch on and pump the water back in over the next sixs hours and the the cycle would repeat itself.That is the theory at least.Any thoughts people?

Interesting idea! I have thought about it as well as creating an estuary type tank where an automated system changes the salinity - but no active experimenting yet.
