My tiger conch died and just realized it and 100% nothing left

Can they pollute your aquarium-

Wondering as recently randomly lost some zoas that melted away to nothing-2 separate locations for the zoas

Kinda depends on how large your and how old your is.

A larger aquarium will dilute the products of the rotting conch more than a small aquarium. An older aquarium will likely have a larger population of organisms that will more quickly and completely convert the conch to biomass. A new system may see more ammonia accumulation and the organic matter hanging around longer.

How large is the tank and did you do any tests for nitrate/phosphate levels in the water?

Also do you have any hermit crabs that are bigger than the usual tiny blue legged/red legged ones?

180g
No larger than blue leg

Paramters

Nitrate 21
Phosphate .19
Calcium 500
Alk 9.2
Magnesium 1500
That is all i ever really test for-that is what i tested last week-which is usually where i run

The nitrate and phosphate seem on the high side to me. Not extremely high but maybe enough to fuel excessive bacterial growth.

I love these guys but never have success with them for some reason. I had one die in my 40g and nothing seemed worse for wear.

There is nothing left because it’s been consumed by the clean up crew.

I had a strawberry conch die in a 15g. No impact. I have a fighting conch in my 75 for almost 2 years. He’s the hardest worker in the tank. Constantly stirring and cleaning the sandbed.
