I got me a Tiger Jawfish today and he has decided to dig his hole in the back of the tank where I can't see or feed him. I there a way to coax him to dig a hole out where he can be seen and fed?

No, that type of fish are bottom dwellers and are hard to see at times. Just will have to train him to an area to feed with a tube

Jawfish usually dont stick with the first burrow they build. When first introduced the number one priority is to build any burrow. Once he settles, usually within the first few days he will build a burrow where he can better see his surroundings and more easily get food. I ME they settle facing the front

I hope he decides to move. He is the biggest jawfish that I have ever seen. He is about 3.5 inches and fatter than my thumb. I have been watching him for about a month at the LFS and finally got him today.

Once they have an established home, they roam about more as well. Mine schools with the chromis at feeding time!

Good score!! Hope he does well for youi

I just lost mine after having it for over 18 months. It was (mostly) blind for the last 6 months or so. I had to target feed it nightly. It would sometimes end up on the other side of the tank, completely lost. Pretty sad :( It seems 18 months is actually a fair amount of time to keep one. Because of this, I won't be buying one again.

However I do hope yours is nice and healthy!

This fish is driving me crazy. I have not seen it since I have place it in the tank. I am unsure if it is alive or eating. The den is still the original and in the back out of sight. Does any body have an idea how to look in the cave since I can't see anything from the front?

Has me moved the sand away from the bottom of the tank? Could you look up from inside the cabinet? Mine occasionally digs that far.

That is a good idea. I will have to look tomorrow when I get home from work.

I just got one as well. After my algae blenny beat on him I was forced to put him in my fuge. I was eventually able to catch the algae bleeny with a trap. Once I placed him back in the tank he dug a hole in the front corner of my tank. He then went to a back corner. I gently placed a rock over him and he's been there for about a week. Yesterday he started eating. Its been a tough road for my him, but I think he's going to do well. PS- I placed PVC all overt the place and he didn't care.

This morning I came home from work to find me screen tops in the water and all my frags knocked off my rack. Then I found the fish in my overflow. He is not back in main tank and made a new where I can see him.

This fish is going make me crazy!!
