I just received a Tiger Tail Cucumber and it looked like it came with a piece of food or something that had broken up during shipping. When I transferred it out of the bag I noticed that all those little pieces were actually moving. They look like little worms that are coming out of that sack like thing on the right. Any ideas?

I'd suggest doing a bit of on-line research before adding to your system for sure, It would be very interesting to find out if they are parasitic worms or indeed baby Cuc's. There are some great Marine Invert websites that should give you some insight, good luck and be sure and post up your findings.

Cheers, Todd

I totally agree you need to figure it out..

I am going to take a wild guess and this chunk is something dead and was laying on the sandbed and got scooped up with the tiger tail.. Those worms probably live in the sand bed and were eating what ever that thing is a dead piece of..
Basically I dont think they are parasites... But it is a guess....

Thanks guys. I have a call and email to LiveAquaria to see if they can shed any light on the subject but at the moment it seems like these animals split rather than have a bunch of babies like this.

I'm no biologist but that definitely look like some type of a nematode or other parasitic round worm. Definitely not cucmber babies. My guess is that's a regurgitation inspired by a stressful trip that is loaded with nematodes.

I'm sure Liveaquaria will be able to tell you what it is for sure though.
