Tile on top of tank stand?

Opinions about placing tile underneath tank?

would it cause to much of a cooling effect?

Ceramic tile? Like for flooring? I think it would crack under the weight of the tank.

Yes like flooring tiles. But if those cracked then wouldn’t the ones on my actual floor rack as well?

Whats the endgame on putting tile in between the bottom of your tank and the top of your stand? Whats the purpose?

I would probably put a piece of black rubber mat in between tank and tile just for safety. Tile glass and lots of weight is not a good recipe. If just one piece of tile is higher than the rest all the weight will be in one spot.

If you are doing this for aesthetics I would leave the tank as is sitting on the wood stand and then tile around it. Go with a smaller mosaic type of tile to account for the small space.

Agreed, many people in my area take this approach. The tile is also easy to wipe off and won’t start rotting like wood if it gets wet. I would go with a rubber mat directly under the tank with tile around the edge

I have 9 cracked ceramic tiles in my kitchen/hallway because the subfloor underneath isn’t level. If you like the look of it, cut the tile to fit around the tank rim but not put it actually under the tank.

Thanks! I think I will just stick with the wood! I think I’m going to flexseal the top of the stand!

it won't crack the tiles and it won't cause cooling (it'll actually insulate), but the tiles aren't perfectly flat and concentric from one to the next so they will put undue stress on the tank with their inconsistent points of contact where they support the tank.

It is an acrylic tank does that make a difference?
