I've seen several grow out tanks with sps colonies growing on what looks like 4x4 unglazed ceramic tiles. Can anyone tell me where to get my hands on them. The only thing I've found are 4x4 tiles at the regular big box hardware stores, but they're all glazed...

TIA

Alternative Reef may have some.

So I was browsing and saw this. I'm a bit late to the party but figured I'd add my two cents. I use raw travertine/limestone tiles. (This part might sound strange). I clean them and make sure there is nothing on them. Then stick them in the back of my toilet tank for a few months. This will do multiple fresh water changes a day to make sure nothing is leaching. Been doing this for years and never had a problem.

Can you maybe link a home depot link or something? I live in Canada finding half the stuff you guys have is impossible lol

You would think....bur living in Canada something you guys have are ridiculous to find.....lol like pickling lime....

Sometimes it's just knowing where to look. Look at a flooring company. They should have travertine for sure.

Yeah home depot here doesn't carry them.....i will check flooring Companies looking into just making my own ATM

If you get into a pinch and you really need some. I'm sure I could ship them to you. Just cover the cost. [emoji1360]

Rock Hard Reef out of NY offers up to 4x4 tiles and can customer make items for you. I just placed a order with them yesterday for tiles and plugs. They only have a Facebook page right now but are very responsive to messages.

I found some!!!! They aren't all 4x4 but there are all assorted sizes in a tile....all I should need to do is a 45 day cure Right?

After ripping them off the plastic should I just sand the rest of the particulate off?

Read back and decided to sand them down a bit on all sides. Just to get anything off. I also decided to try this as they were to thick for my liking and it worked.....way to much labor with a 12" hack saw but definitely going to be splitting the rest before I cure.

For 9.98 CAD and a bit of elbow grease i Think I have found my new zoa colony rocks and frag disks

Need to find a better way to slice them though.
