A friend has this for another purpose, electronic salinity monitor to your phone
Anyone ever use this in an aquarium?

Continuous temp and salinity monitoring for $135 could be useful in certain setups If it works. Would be great to tuck into the back of an AIO that might be too small for the investment in an Apex.

It’s one of the most important parameters to keep in check

It's pretty much set and forget. As long as you have an ato and measure your salt properly at water change time. Test a few times a year and adjust at next water change. kiss rules to live by

If you are doing 2 part salinity will eventually creep up. It’s something that for sure needs to be monitored closely

Manufacturer answer to question about the capsule:
"Yes, it's an FDA-listed and NSF-approved medical grade plastic (Makrolon 2458) safe for direct contact with food or human tissue. The reason we use medical grade polycarbonate vs. other plastics is so it can be steam sterilized, boiled, and and is compatible with a variety of sanitizers (iodophor, Starsan, alcohol, etc)"

I assume most (all?) plastic is reef safe?

gzzzz how much are you dosing? I think you mean down.
keep it in the mid range and add the proper amount of salt at wc time, taking into account how much you dose weekly add that to your water change volume. and you'll never get much creep. I may make a minor change at a wc time maybe once a year

keep it in the mid range and you'll be fine for months
Brs has a video of a one of the macna talks where the guy from tropic marine points this out in detail. Jake Adams is also a huge checker of salinity and often recommends to check it
