How much space do you have? I've always loved my LifeReef.

Reef Octopus with varios dc pump allows for changing pump speed. Either manually or by speed reference. I've recently run at reduced speed for 12 hours, aeration only, then skim speed for remainder.

My vote goes to ultrareef akula or typhoon if wanting the absolute highest end build quality, changed from a nyos 120 to an akula 160 and it was a great decision. Also is in my bedroom so noticeably quieter.
Life reef protein skimmers are excellent if you have the space as well though

I’d add to the Lifereef recommendations, I’ve had mine for 10 yrs. These skimmers are really made to last, and can be driven by any pump you prefer.

I’m more of a external skimmer kind of guy .

frees up space in the sump and generally great for large systems with large bio loads .

I vote mrc-MR2 external skimmer .
I believe it’s rated for up to 300 gallons with single becket .
add a additional Beckett to the same skimmer and increase its capacity to 600 gal
