Hey everybody, my 32g tank is 5 weeks old and has been cycling with 30 pounds of live rock. My ammonia levels have always been below .25ppm and is currently around <.1. Nitrites are 0 and nitrates are just above 0. Anyone think it’s too early to add fish?

Are you using an API test kit for ammonia?

Personally I do not think it's two early for clown, continue to test for ammonia. Do not over feed and allow the tank some time to adjust before adding more fish.

Yes I am using API. I also took some water to the lfs and they tested it with the same results.

Just to be sure did you ever add a source of ammonia to the tank? Like fish food, a dead shrimp, or ammonium chloride?

Normally when buying live rock you would feed/ add 2 ppm ammonia to the tank and a good rule of thumb is if it is 0 (or 0.25 in your case because API does that) within 24 hours then your good togo.

Ya I’ve added quite a bit of fish food but I’ve never seen a big spike in ammonia. My nitrates were up to 20 before a water change about a week ago.

With 30 lbs of live rock in a 32 gallon you were probably good to go several weeks ago.
