Hi Gurus,
I moved my tank last Saturday (been 7 days) and haven't changed water change in last 3-4 weeks. I however added 3 gallons top off water. Should i replace 10/15 gallons from the tank? Went to a local fish store 3 days ago and the guy said not to change anything till i see change in chemistry he also said due to the move the chemistry in the tank might have been runied and wait another few weeks to replace the water? Is he right?

I would probably change water honestly because theirs probably a build up of nutrients between not changing normal day to day waste. And the fast that moving every thing probably stirred up a lot of detritus.

I agree, not to mention when is a water change a bad thing? I am sure the guy at the LFS was trying to tell you to let the tank cycle again if need be. I suppose it is true that water changes early on in a set up or after a move could slow the completion of the cycle. But I still think that consistency still trumps that philosophy and water changes done correctly (i.e. temp, salinity, ph) never hurt anything.

Yup, he's right, theres no reason to do anything just to do it. Gotta have those readings. Now, on the other hand, it won't hurt anything just to do a water changes.

agree with others, a water change isn't going to hurt anything and may help with removing some nutrients from the move.
