Razor blade cut off a branch, attach to rock or frag plug with gel super glue, then either sell to local reefers or give away :)

Be sure to get the correct kind of super glue. Has to contain Cyanoacrylate. Not the other "R" chemical. Either that or use reef glue that is about 4x the price.
Supposedly leathers give off a toxin when fragged. Try to remove piece if possible.
I have a leather I want to frag but can't get it out of the tank. I don't know if coral near by will be hurt if I start snipping away.

Should actually be ok, I have fragged many times in the tank, they do give off a toxin, I am always running carbon so not as much of a concern.

Good deal!! I need to frag this guy off because he is starting to use Palys as tambourines when rockin with the wave maker lol. I wonder how many frags I can get...
Thanks 34 for posting, haha I may frag today too!

I know a few leathers can't be glued (they slime up like mushrooms) so you can put them in an open container in a low flow area and they will attach to rock rubble that you put in that container. Here's a pic of my mushrooms that I did a few days ago, they're really small so I used a small beaker:

I'm not sure about technical cutting but if you cut the stalk too, you could probably get like 8 ish

I probably won't cut the thicker stalks, they are like over an 1 1/2" thick. I want to cut the small branches. I would like to use glue, but as stated, could be difficult since these guys get slimy. I'll probably wrap in a rubber band on rubble rock.

I just glued a mushroom to a frag plug and it held just fine, I would try both if your having issues, even if they slime a little it may still hold enough to temporarily secure them. Not sure you know but once you have it glued dip it in the tank or a cup of salt water and that will help the super glue start drying quicker.

Absolutely, when I have fragged off my SPS, I had a container with fresh tank water to dip for about 30sec to secure the piece. I am going to attempt the glue on the leather and see how it works for me. But once I get frustrated with the gooeyness, off to the rubber bands lol. The shrooms I have gathered, well I can't have success with glue, possibly too impatient haha so I just put them in a container with rubble rock.
Thanks for the input!

Yeah, the stalks on my leather are like an inch and a half thick too they would look kind of stupid with no branches ,or will new ones grow off the stalk?

New ones will grow but I wouldn't cut all of them off :)

3 stuck 2 didn't so I put them in there. Always good to have options lol

Just waiting for my dang lights to start kicking on. Ugh I hate the weekends, have to wait till 1pm to enjoy the tank haha then the fragging will commence haha

Out of curiosity, what are your lights set at jej34?? I've got the black boxes as well but always wonder what others are set at.

This was the piece playing the tambourines on some palys. I didn't dry or anything. I put glue on the plug, dipped in water grabbed base of coral, stuck into glue and held and twisted till it started to harden. Left alone and worked.
Also, finally!! I got that little jerk damsel out. All that's left is a mandarine goby, he is happy and staying. Going to get a proper livestock soon.
