Just a friendly reminder for those like myself living on the east coast of florida and beyond with Hurricane Matthew approaching time to make sure your tank buddies are going to be ok in the event of a power outage. It is highly probable at least some of us are going to lose power at some point and some may even lose power for quite some time. So if you have a generator great but I suggest you break it out and make sure it is running correctly now before you regret it later. If you dont have a generator your are not out of luck but you need to take steps to prepare. You can get battery operated bubblers that can help in most fish stores or the fishing department of walmart. However I have found them to really not be much help as they dont last very long and batteries will become scarce in the coming days. The option I use since I have a boat is I take the battery off the boat and connect it to a power inverter. They cost about 50 bucks and you can run a regular bubble machine off of it for quite some time. Maybe even a small power head for a little while. When the battery gets weak you can charge it with your car with some standard jumper cables. Obviously a generator is the ideal tool but if you dont have that option you need to start planning on what you will do.

Stay safe everyone

Fired mine up recently and all systems are go. Need to grab some extra fuel and we'll be set (not that we're expecting anything wild up here in VA).

Is it bad I checked mine yesterday in case the storm headed our way and my main concern was the fish tank and nothing else? lol I'm in NC so we should be fine for now but you folks in Florida please stay safe

Going to get a generator after all the flooding is over in NC was with out power for 3 days. But the tank is doing good. Had a bubble maker in the tank.

Got my generators ready. Test fired both for about a half hour.
Got 25 gallons of gas and I am ready.
We have a huge storm heading to Western Washington tomorrow.
Suppose to be the worst storm in 50 years.

Any recommendations on generators? Brands to stay away from?

If you have deep pockets get the best. Honda generators are very quiet and dependable.

My Generac has been working great for almost 15 years, but it's a little on the loud side.
