Time to go bare bottom

I am in the process of removing my sand bed and going bare bottom. My plan is to remove all but 2 of my rocks, all the water and of course all the sand. I am going branch for the next scape. I have had a marine pure plate in the tank for years and I am hoping that will keep me from having to go through a cycle. What should I expect in the process.
