Time to upgrade from a 300DD

Check out concept aquariums out of Calgary Alberta Canada, I picked up my 73x36x25 a few days ago. Euro bracing, coast to coast over flow and starfire on 3 sides. Cost $3000 Canadian with stand and sump.

i just shot them an email to get a price thanks for the recommendation.

If you are going to go big, get a proper overflow; not something gimmicky like that h20 jobbie. Properly sized ghost-style is the way to go.

What I have decided is to switch to two of their 2400 gph stealth boxes as well as 4 3/4” siphon stopper return lines

keep in mind that you are still using the surface skimmer that I mentioned before. by using them I think you are losing some space in your tank where the elbow and surface skimmers are, as opposed to a ghost style overflow.

It looks like you lose minimal space at the top of the tank, I’ve never had a ghost overflow, everything I’ve had has had full boxes on the back wall of the tank

Here’s an update*

I think I have settled to go with customaquariums.com, their price is awesome.
Ended up with a 96”w x 30”d x 28”tall, either 4 h2overflows or 2 2400gph stealthboxes, and 3 or 4 syphon stopper return lines.

Also either going to do a custom 48”x24”x 18” tall sump or the seamless sump system with a little bit more research into them, they make me nervous with how “different” they are

I am doing a similar tank from them, been going back and forth with them and hope to pull the trigger this week.

So I also contacted concept aquariums out of Canada and their price was extremely competitive, probably the best one I have gotten, customer service seemed awesome and only had a 5 week build time.
Anyone had any experience with them? They sounded fairly new

Not bad at all. Any better shots of the overflow setup?

3 tanks from them, this is my 4th. No complaints

So I have talked around with a couple people and I am really interested in the Customaquariums.com tanks (awful name to describe). I really like their h2overflow design.
I am waiting on a price back from them and I did also contact crystal dynamics.
My other problem is I really need to update my skimmer for this new tank as my current one is overworked on the tank I have now.
Thank you everyone

Pay attention to customaquariums warranty. In order for it to be the lifetime, they require you to purchase one of their custom built stands. Put the tank on anything else then it has no warranty. I was planning on them building my 60”x28”x24” but the warranty hangup led me in another direction. I plan to have them build my future upgrade though, with their stand so I can get the lifetime warranty. Just my .02 from checking everywhere. You could also do the modular marine style overflow, or synergy to keep the maximum amount of space for aquascaping.

Yup, that is who I had build my tank. I had a 210 built. Peninsula style, starfire/low iron glass front pane and one side panel, and euro brace. 54" W x 30" T x 30" D. Friendly, prompt, and a bit over 5 week build time. Price was right. Got a good conversion rate. Also ordered stand - steel 2" tube - powder coated black. Shipping wasn't bad but had to pay extra since I didn't have delivered to a dock, drop to house was more. Anyway tank was shipped perfectly, packed perfectly, crate was sturdy, no damage. In fact I reused the wood from the shipping crate several times over :) Matt is who I dealt with. Called, Q & A, agree, they send a diagram, I signed off, payed 1/2 for deposit, they start build, few calls to clarify questions, sent a few images, finish, pay remaining, pay shipping, received. More or less that was it. Sat in my garage for almost a year before I got around to unpack due to other priorities.

Few things didn't turn out like I ordered but nothing major. Main complaint was that I wanted a smooth overflow weir on the back panel but also a slot design that was the width of the pane of the glass or overflow. What happened is that they did the weir but then added slotted acrylic. I didn't want the vertical slots - just the weir :( Anyway not a big deal and I can actually fix it but that was one reason why I went custom. Only other thing is that the eruo brace is clearly made out of scrap glass. It doesn't have a smooth finish / cut like the main tank. If I went without a canopy this would be a major issue. However, I have a canopy so it is covered. Other than that the class is scratch free, seams are solid, and it is well built. I am very pleased and would order again. I would just clarify my two concerns so it is corrected.

In another forum I saw a really nice looking tank. They said it was from concept and give them a call so I did. So far, so good. I know there are two other companies that people use and they are probably double the price if not more. I can't say which is better but I'd wager from what I've seen they have a better finish. Does that make it worth it - that is up to you. I'm pretty happy but honestly time will tell. If I was being honest it doesn't matter who makes the tank in the end. 200 gallons of water is always going to be a concern regardless of who made the tank. That is how I saw it so went with concepts. It won't hurt to call regardless.

My buddies tank he just received from concept last week. They actually have a CNC machine now, so there quality is going up.

That is good to hear. I'm pretty pleased so far outside the minor stuff I noted above. Do you know if his was made on a plywood base? Mine was and it looks like his was. His EURO brace looks nicer :)

His is all glass, foam in the bottom.

Interesting. Mine is also glass and they made it on a plywood base. I was going to remove it but it set pretty well on it. I called and they are like yeah - that is how we do it. Nice tank though your buddy has.

So worked with custom we designed a custom 48”x24”w x 18” tall sump as well, not sure if that’s the route to go or a trigger tide line 48. Custom aquariums couldn’t do sock brackets, probe holders or an adjustable water height.

Okay so NOW I’m ready to purchase, tomorrow I’m going to order my tank which got changed. 96”x 36”d x 28”t, the tank is about 425 gallons. 2400 gph stealthbox
And 4 return lines

Also going to buy reef octopus regal 300 int
Reef octopus br 140 bio pellet reactor
Reef octopus VarioS 8 return pump which hopefully will power everything if not I’ll get a separate reef octopus VarioS 4 to run the reactor and a uv light, I’m just not sure how to plumb it all in.

Things I want to buy..
Neptune wav blower
Trigger Tideline 48 or precision marine 48 pro plus
Or other comparable custom sump (ideas?)
Apex dos

I too want to go bigger !
