I need some suggestions when it comes to upgrading my reef tank. I am currently running a Innovative Marine 30EXT that I have simply outgrown. I purchased a RedSea Reefer 350 which is a 73 gallons display. The goal is to move everything over in one day this weekend but I'm so nervous. Of course I will be using the same live rock, marine pure blocks/spheres, and maybe a cup or two of sand and I have all the new equipment to run the tank. The worry is i will be adding new dry rock and I don't want this tank to recycle and potentially kill any of my fish and corals. Any suggestions to make this a smooth and easy process? I appreciate anyone in advance for help.

Put your new rock in your current tank if you can or in your sump. That will potentially help some

use no old sand. risks a total tank kill, 3 recent threads. doesn't matter if its been recommended prior, nobody could help the recent 3 they're in the first post below

in my opinion this is exactly what you want, a forty page reef tank relocation thread with no kills.

read only the first post then pick any example you don't have to read pages.

all the links in the thread are the same set of moves whether moving, upgrading, downgrading, fixing cyano or diatoms or algae etc. all the same

there's one key thing we do there that sets us so far apart from the public norm, that to mention it here would earn a certain write off as loony.

but when revealed as forty pages and no other tank relocation threads exist online, heck we're onto something. the #1 thing you'd think we'd never do to a reef tank sandbed is the sole thing that keeps all those tanks alive. irony=fun
