I have a Timor that's about 3.25 inches for almost a year now. It's in QT now after an outbreak of prazipro resistant flukes which I've successfully treated. over the past 6 weeks I've noticed it's lips seem to have thickened, turned whitish and top lip is turned up a little.

She eats like pig and totally fine otherwise. It doesn't really show in photos otherwise I would post one. The 10G QT has 1"-2" of sand over about 1/3 of the tank where she sleeps.

Is this just her physically maturing and growing and her jaw has changed a bit? I'm wondering if there is not enough sand and she could be injuring herself bedding down at night? She's going back into the DT in few weeks

Any thoughts?

No; that's not normal.

Not likely. They're used to encountering rocks/stones/shells in the sand in the wild.

Do you have a photo?

I'll try to get a photo. It's not anything dramatic, but it does look a little different than it had.

I have a trio of these in my tank, when the largest changed into a male its lips did thicken and become more pronounced than the females. The was also a slight change in body shape- it became deeper and it colour intensified slightly.

I think that's what might be going on, it starting to transition.

Here is a photo, it probably difficult to see. I'm probably concerned over nothing

It does look a bit damaged. However, if the skin is unbroken and there's no white fuzziness, then there's no action to take.

Just curious- how did you successfully treat the Prazi resistant flukes?

Two 12 hour fenbenazole baths one week apart and into sterile QT after each treatment

It worked. This Timor was afflicted and has not had any symptoms for 10 weeks since treatment

No white fuzziness, no open wound. she's been in 10G QT for 76 days by herself and I think she's banging her nose on the glass often. I'll get her into the DT in a couple weeks and she'll have more room
